Dr. Cyd Ropp has been a trusted voice online since launching her “Simple Explanation” philosophy-of-science blog in 2010. In 2018, Dr. Ropp added a second blog called “A New Gnostic Gospel,” focusing on the Gnostic philosophy and theology gleaned from the Nag Hammadi scrolls. Dr. Ropp’s unique views on science have proven themselves for over ten years, and her Gnostic explanations have earned the respect of her peers on numerous popular podcasts, such as Aeon Byte Gnostic Radio.
Dr. Ropp holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Guam, a Master’s degree in Education from University of California at Santa Barbara, a second Master’s degree in Christian Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from Azusa Pacific University, and a Ph.D. in Classical Rhetoric from the University of Memphis. She taught college for six years before leaving academia to focus on her own research and writing.
What Are Gnostic Insights?
Gnosis is not a bundle of hidden secrets that must be uncovered and studied to gain redemption. Simply put, gnosis is the realization that we come from above, and that our Father is in Heaven, and to Heaven we shall return. That’s all there is to it. “My brother, Bill Puett, is my co-conspirator and number one sounding board. Bill and I are both Ph.D.s, which only goes to show the depth of our commitment to truth. My Ph.D. is in Classical Rhetoric, which is the study of ancient manuscripts. Bill’s Ph.D. is in Philosophy, with a specialty in mind-body interaction. Bill is a Professor Emeritus, with an ongoing practice as a hypnotherapist specializing in past-life exploration and remediation. The religious philosophy we have developed over the years is informed by his extensive experience with hypnosis and past-life regression. My contribution to our philosophy stems mainly from textual studies of ancient manuscripts and my own archetypal dream life. We both count ourselves as Gnostic Christians.
